Known as the Europe´s oldest city, Knossos, a large archaeological site covering 22000 sq.m situated 6 km from Heraklion, Crete, keeps a lot of secretes. It is often associated with Minotaur, a creature with a head of a bull and a body of a man, a mythological son of the king Minos kept in the labyrinth. Th Minoan culture reached a peak of development between 1700 and 1450 BC, Knossos city-state suffered two earthquakes and was rebuilt twice and was discovered only in 1878 by Minos Kalokairinos. The excavation started only in 1900 by a British archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans.
The major spots of the ancient city are the Great Palace, the Little Palace, the Royal Villa, The Royal Sanctuary, the House of the high Priest and the Caravan Serai.

Mykonos, also called the island of the winds, is known for its vibrant nightlife and lily-white architecture. Part of the Cyclades, Mykonos lies between Syros, Tinos, Paros and Naxos. Rising to more than 340 m at its highest point, Mykonos boasts a mountainous landscape with scanty trees. Covered with flowers in spring with only a few, not-partying tourists, Mykonos would be a fantastic destination for those not looking for the summer fuss.
And apart from all that, Mykonos is also a brilliant place for fine dining. Offering a wide range of places from boho chic to traditional taverns, the island has something to satisfy all the tastes. The good thing with Greece, is that with almost where you eat, it is always good. The bad thing is that sometimes you need more time than you planned to try it all.

In the world of globalization a very good holiday can end up in moving to the holiday country. When easy on holidays, it might turn out to be quite difficult when starting off in another place due to red-tape procedures and details you are not used to. In addition to everything, the cultural and language differences matter. However, if one is fully prepared for the relocation and knows about all the peculiarities of the visa, accommodation, life costs, education, services, jobs and business set-up, it will be much easier and less stressful. The international relocation portal will provide you with the exhaustive information and expat guides.
For you not to be disappointed in your choice and to make the move as smooth as possible, hire an experienced lawyer who will help you to go through the legal part of the relocation day by day.

For some more additional information, one should also check the webs in their mother tongue as it can also be of good help. For Dutch, you can check the Vakantiehuis that gives exhaustive information on many topics and online resources in different countries and areas.

Sometimes we are dreaming of a nice holiday somewhere under the shining sun or, the other way round, skiing in the mountains. There are so many fascinating places that it is never easy to pick up one for a trip and sometimes the whole life is not long enough for all the dream destinations to be put in. However, if you keep in mind some important things, you will never have a feeling of having chosen the wrong place or time for your holiday.

1. The weather matters
Thailand might be a wonderful country in January, but quite disappointing in October. Why? Because it s the moment of the heavy rains there. Check the Holiday Weather - we provide weather reports for all the major holiday destinations before planning your trip and pay attention to what the temperature feels like in reality as you might be surprised in some humid countries that it seems much hotter or colder than shows the thermometer.

2. The timing matters
When planning a journey. make sure there are no major events (like conventions, festivals or meetings) that you are not visiting. The accommodation units as well as the city itself might be packed and the car rental, flights and accommodation prices will soar up due to the elevated demand. You might need to leave it just till next week to avoid feeling like sardines in a can.

3. The activities matter
Find out what activities can be done and YOU would like to do in the destination in question. Some destinations are better for senior travellers or families as they offer quieter setting, a lot of sightseeing and fine dining, while others are "thought through" for youngsters with their parties and pickup food. For example, Ibiza would be a great choice for active young guests, while Menorca is a better option for families. Remember that city always has a richer cultural offer than countryside and normally does not require a car.

4. The budget matters
When planning a trip, especially to a secluded resort for a long time, make sure it fits your budget. The flight and accommodation might be doing so and it might look like an ideal place, but some unexpected expenses might come up, for example, when looking for some eating out facilities, as you will not have much options around.
